Palisade Corporation, makers of @RISK and DecisionTools Suite risk analysis software, has an opening for Territory Sales Manager, with a focus on the government, insurance, finance, and oil/gas sectors. @RISK and DecisionTools Suite software uses techniques like Monte Carlo simulation and decision trees to help users quantitatively analyze risk and make better decisions in financial analysis, project scheduling, cost estimation, capital reserves estimation, pricing, R&D, and many, many other applications. The software works in Microsoft Excel, thus the user base is very broad.

Job Description

This position is meant to be based in the DC, MD, or northern VA area. The position will have responsibility for developing the market and closing sales for customers large and small in DC, MD, VA, DE and possibly other nearby states. Palisade clients around the world include various sectors such as: government, manufacturing, construction/engineering, energy, utilities, healthcare, and many more.


The basic requirements for the position are to very proactively seek out and close new business to meet territory sales targets. This is done by maintaining a strong and consistent presence in the market, getting in front of people, devouring leads, building relationships, and asking for the sale.

• Prospect new accounts, generate interest, qualify, develop and close new business.
• Work independently to meet and exceed revenue targets and goals assigned to the territory.
• Develop an overall business plan leading to the deployment of a well-executed team selling effort into the assigned territory. Team will include prequal sales support, corporate management, and technical sales engineers.
• Grow sales opportunities generated from marketing activities, and generate sales opportunities independently through leads, cold calls, market research, and networking.
• Operate independently and effectively manage the sales cycle from opportunity identification through close.
• Provide accurate sales opportunity pipelines on a monthly basis.
• Utilize references and industry contacts within the territory to increase sales.
• Work with clients to create corporate proposals that include software licenses, software maintenance, and software training - all tailored to client's particular needs.
• Learn client needs and budget. Upsell client to best solution for their needs. Do not simply answer the questions asked.
• Travel to client sites for meetings and to perform corporate sales demonstrations.
• Travel to, participate in, and help arrange software roadshows, conferences, chapter events, and other similar marketing events.
• The job is 40% travel, not including local client visits.
• Give product demonstrations in any venue: in person, over the web, and at events.
